European Riders Rally - Burkesville, Kentucky

15th Annual

European Riders Rally

in Burkesville, KY

May 17th - 19th, 2013

The Rally dates are set and hope you will mark your calendar to join us this year. Riders from all over the country gather to enjoy some of the best riding in the Southeast through the foothills of Kentucky and Tennessee. The natural beauty of this area was noted by naturalist and "Father of Our National Parks", John Muir in his famous Thousand Mile Walk to the Gulf.

There is free camping on the banks of the beautiful Cumberland River which runs along quaint downtown Burkesville, KY. There are well maintained toilet and showering facilities (bring your own towel and soap) and a covered pavilion with a fire pit.

Most people take advantage of the free camping but for those who prefer hotels reservations are available at the Riverfront Lodge (walking distance from the rally site) by calling (270)-864-3300. Register early for the Riverfront as the rooms there tend to fill up. Unfortunately, the Alpine Lodge will not be available in 2013. We have not used these hotels in the past but some we know of are The Best Western Albany Garden, Sulphur Creek Resorts, Burkesville, KY; Hendricks Creek Resort; Hendricks Creek Road, Burkesville, KY; The Old Coe House B&B, Burkesville, KY and the Dale Hollow Lake State Park.

Both guided tours and self guided rides will be offered. A tech session will be offered on Saturday with information that most bikers would like to have, more to come on this.

Friday night there will be free movies and Saturday night will have free steak dinner followed by live music from one of the talented local bands.

  Americade

What is Americade?

Americade has become the world's largest multi-brand motorcycle touring rally.  Local estimates indicate it attracts 50,000-100,000 annually.

It's a convention of tourers, sport-tourers and cruising motorcycles enjoying a week-long festival of motorcycling, including guided tours in the beautiful Adirondack Park, and the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Americade also includes two massive trade shows with nearly 250 vendors, demos and displays from most major motorcycle manufacturers, catered boat cruises,  exclusive rodeos, stunt shows, laser shows, comedy clubs and much, much more.

To participate, most attendees register for a full-week wristband, giving them access to the trade shows, the demos and displays, Americade’s headquarters where many events take place and much more.

Americade is a gathering of friendly, fun-loving folks, for whom motorcycling is a social hobby, but not some form of rebellion. It's NOT the place for shows of speed, hostile attitudes, or illegally loud motorcycles. Americade supports the AMA position that "Loud Pipes Risk Rights".

22nd Annual Ride To Work Day - Everywhere
Monday, June 17, 2013
Your Home Town!
Last Updated: 03/17/2013 - 18:58

The 22nd annual Ride to Work Day will be held on June 17, 2013. Ride to Work Day helps demonstrate how these vehicles make parking easier and help traffic flow better. Motorcycle and scooter riders seek improved employer recognition and support for this form of transportation, and more public and government awareness of the positive value of riding. The organization advocates and supports the use of motorcycles and scooters for transportation, and providing information about everyday utility riding to the public.

Ride your motorcycle or scooter on this day to demonstrate:
• The number of motorcyclists to the general public and to politicians.
• That motorcyclists are from all occupations and all walks of life.
• That motorcyclists can reduce traffic and parking congestion in large cities.
• That motorcycles are for transportation as well as recreation.
• That motorcycling is a social good.

For more information as well as the history of RTW and free materials, logos, etc., visit http://www.ridetowork.org/.

BMW 41st International BMW Riders Association Rally, Ashville, NC

JUNE 20-23, 2013

BILTMORE ESTATE

ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

The BMW Riders Association is pleased to announce our return to “America’s Castle” in 2013.  Many will remember our 2007 rally at this same location and have been asking since, “When are we going back?”

Travel to Asheville, considered one of the most eclectic cities around.  Not only will rally goers have full run of the Biltmore Estate, but Asheville offers a wide variety of shops, eating establishments and outdoor activities.  Zip lining, white water rafting and hundreds of hiking and biking trails await all.

And of course, there is the riding. Western North Carolina offers some of the best riding east of the Mississippi.  Choose pavement or dirt, the possibilities are endless.  Close to the Dragon and the Snake, any road in the area takes the rider on winding and twisting roads through the Smokey Mountains.

And if you prefer dirt, the area has roads for every skill level available for exploration.

The worse part will be choosing whether to stay on the estate, tour the house, vendors, seminars or venture off the estate and sample some of what western North Carolina has to offer.  Come early, stay late, just mark your calendars and make your plans.

See you in Asheville!

Visit the Asheville Chamber's webpage for information about great things to do in Asheville and about lodging options: www.exploreasheville.com/2013bmwra/
