You may have heard that the Club is hosting an awesome opportunity to improve your riding skills no matter what kind of riding you like.  This is a track-day event November 11, 2017, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL.  Professional instructors will help us improve our skills, build confidence, and enjoy riding more.  The day is a mix of track time and classroom instruction - typically each group will get seven 20 minute sessions on the track for a total of 140-60 miles.  All types of bikes are welcome, and you can wear your standard street gear (leathers not required).

The course is led by Sportbike Track Time (STT), who conducts track-day rider training for all levels of riders at tracks around the country.  We will participate in the Novice class, which has greatly relaxed requirements for motorcycles, riders, and gear.  Everything you could want to know about the schedule and requirements can be found at www.sportbiketracktime.com - click STT Groups and FAQ, Trackday Regulations, or Trackday Overview on the home page, or click on the Help menu in the upper right corner.

The normal price for the day is $245.  If our Club can get a group of ten or more, we will get a 10% discount (which is the price you are paying to register here).  In addition, Club members are eligible to receive $50 reimbursement for qualified training once each calendar year.  That's a net price of $170, a real bargain for a full day of high-quality training. This is also open to non-members, but if you're going to do this, you might as well join the Club - the reimbursement more than covers your dues!

The Club initially secured 15 slots in the class to ensure the 10% discount, and capped registration for the event accordingly.  If our registration is full and you wish to register, please email the Activities Directors - we will try to get another slot in the class and will let you know if one is available, and get you registered.  If you register for the track day directly with STT, you will not get the 10% discount.

Camping is available at the track and there are several hotels and other camping options nearby.  Generally we plan to travel down Friday afternoon/evening, spend Saturday at the track, and time permitting visit the museum Sunday before traveling back.

Because this is such a great event and space is so limited, you will want to register early!  We're going to limit registration to current Club members until May 15, then make it available to non-members.

Contact Bob Jimenez or Chris Aycock at activities@bmwmcon.org with any questions.

The fine print:
STT has a strict cancellation policy (check out their policies), and so do we.  Because the Club has reserved and paid for your track day, you can cancel up to 45 days before the event with a $40 penalty.  After that there are no refunds.  You can avoid the penalties if you can find someone to buy your spot.  Classes are generally rain or shine.

STT and Barber will require all participants to sign a waiver.  Because this is a Club-sponsored event, the Club's standard waiver (the one you agreed to when you joined or renewed) will also apply, and non-members will be required to sign the waiver.

There is a $5 admission fee to the track for everyone, riders and spectators, in addition to the class registration.
